Wan Sim and Chris : Wonderful Malaysia

Wan Sim and Chris’ wedding was one of the out of the country weddings we shot last November. Chris is (British) and Wan Sim is Malaysian and their wedding was a union of two cultures. But we (fiel and me) weren’t the only ones enjoying the auspicious event as Chris and Wan Sim, as seen on the highlight video, were having such a blast that they decided to get married twice! first was in chris’ hometown in London and the second on wan sim’s hometown Malaysia. Both weddings showing their culture and traditions.

We were fortunate enough to have these two as our couple and for giving us the opportunity and trusting us to shoot their second wedding in Malaysia. It was our first time in Malaysia and like little lost kids, we strayed off from the beaches of (Langkawi) to the streets of (Kuala Lumpur). We wasted no time in searching for places to shoot. It was a real pleasure working with these guys. They were a lot of fun and were game altroughout the shoots. So thanks again Wan Sim and Chris.
On a side note. It’s true that there is no such thing as a perfect wedding or maybe there is, but not on our part as we had technical problems preparing a video presentation for the couple. Some of our cables died down on us and we to had to literally scour (langkawi’s) computer shops for the right cables we need. Thankfully we had an encounter with a rather unique cab driver. Ever watched movies where cab drivers rip off not only your purses but every appendage of your body? maybe not, but xept for the last part then probably. well our cab driver Mr. Talib (hope i spelled it right) not only drove us across the streets of langkawi on our quest for the right cables, he also toured us around showing us the night ambience and beauty of langkawi. He even showed us the places where to find the best cuisines in town. Since we havent had dinner that time, we invited him to pick his favorite spot and dine with us. Surely, we were treated to the best curry in town! and to top it all off, while heading back to the hotel, he even gave us a little history lesson on Langkawi and Malaysia and how cab drivers should act as little ambassadors of the country. You cant beat that! so hats off to Mr Talib.
Many thanks to Andy Lim and to his charming wife Jun for the company and guiding us throughout the malaysian wedding rituals and props goes to MintySlippers for covering Chris and Wan Sim’s wedding in London.

So with no further delay; they are in love, they dance like no ones watching and the world is their stage. here is Chris and Wan sim’s wedding highlight video.

This is something quite special for us. Being able to see Wan Sim and Chris getting married again is quite something.

The team at Mayad have done an amazing job with this shoot and I know that to try and combine their own footage with that of another studio who shoot in a different style is going to be a challenge.

But you all managed to do it so well and I’m proud to say that we were a part of this wonderful day.

My My!! The hunt of the cable!! We were so clueless when you asked us about it. I can’t believe you guys actually found it in the end…in Langkawi! It must be a miracle! Wow…We were glad that you met a nice taxi man to take you around while we were with Andy taking our evening photo shoot. I can still remember your glittering eyes when you told us all about this Mr Talib!! :)

On your arrival day, we were very anxious to meet you two, finally the day has arrived! We drove happily to the airport and waited anxiously. Poor guys, you two look so dead tired when we saw you at the airport. But when we got to the hotel and took you guys out for dinner, you two were all pumped up with adrenaline! It was such a lovely evening! We could have talked for ages. We were so afraid that you two would suffer from fatigue when we have the full day shoot tomorrow. Surprise, surprise, at 8am, there was a knock at our room door, and I overheard Fiel’s enthusiastic voice to Chris, GUYS!!! We found a really cool spot!!! Fiel and Cecil already had their breakfast and scouted the whole resort by foot! Gosh, the resort is spread over 70 acres and resort guests used buggies. You two are like machines! Can we actually keep up with these two Energiser bunnies? We did just about manage! :P

We then arrived KL the day before the wedding. It was supposed to be a relaxing day and we were hoping to go around KL with Fiel and Cecil. However, things went a bit chaotic with family and friends arrivals. And later in the evening, I was quite upset to learn that one of my grandfathers fell ill and couldn’t attend my wedding. I was distraught as it meant a lot to me for him to be there. Subsequently, we didn’t make it for our evening shoot with Fiel and Cecil. Sorry guys, we know it must be quite disappointing to you (as it was for us), but we were quite in low spirits. In fact, the most emotional time for me was during the Chinese Tea Ceremony, when I missed him the most.

By watching this video, it really brought back many happy memories and I can’t wait to show it to my grand-dad. We danced at so many places, from Langkawi beaches to KL City Streets. We can’t believe we did all that. This video is so beautifully edited, especially the part where it merged our first dance in UK with the dances on beaches and streets of Malaysia. Such creativity and talent is none other than awe-inspiring.

We can’t express enough our gratitude to you guys. Fiel and Cecil, you two are such modest and humble people, and not to mention one of the warmest and friendliest people that we’ve met. And always remain professional throughout your shoot. It is a great honour to get to know both of you, and hopefully our paths will cross again one day. Thank you so much for not only to be there on our special day but to be part of this milestone of our life.

    So, Maraming salamat po!

Wishing you, Mayad Studios a wonderful and a successful year ahead! Please do drop by London for a visit, we will be waiting! :D
