2010 EventDV 25 : We Made It!

This year has been great to us here at Mayad Studios. Blessings were poured to us unexpectedly like rain on a summer’s day and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who paved the way for us.

One particular blessing is the recent announcement of the 2010 Event dv25 where we were chosen as one of the 25 most influencial videographers all over the world. We are humbled by the title. We can’t not stop smiling and thanking everyone for the support and their continued belief in our craft.

Mayad studios started last July 04, 2006…almost 5 years in the making. We did not expect to receive this much acknowledgement from the world in such a short period of time. We promise to continue to work hard in order to serve you better. Our mission is to continually reinvent ourselves, improve our craft and live up to the title that was given to us. Again thank you so much and we are hoping we made you guys proud. This is not just for us but for all the other Filipino videographers out there. Keep on rocking! :)

I know it’s kind of late, but hey, better late that never – Day 1 :p

Could somebody please wake us up.. coz we are definitely on Cloud 9. Great news everyone!!!! Pinoy video makers rocked the WEVA Expo 2009. And we are so blessed to be one of the lucky videographers who won. God has been really great to us and we want to share it with you as we reminisce the two videos that gave us such honor and pride.

*With that, we would like to thank God for never letting us down and to everyone who believed in our capabilities; most especially to our wonderful couples for trusting us in the most special day of their lives. Thank you. Words are not enough to express our deepest gratitude.

Special shout out to all our fellow Pinoy Videomaker awardees. Congratulations sir Jason Magbanua, Bob Nicolas, Garry Garza, MG, Dominic, Body Shots and Director’s Cut. As always…Mabuhay ang mga Pilipino! Mabuhay ang mga Ilonggos!!! :p

Oh! and incase you are in Florida right now, Fiel will be speaking at WEVA EXPO 2009. You can chat with him and all EXPO speakers during the convention & Trade Show and get your questions answered.

*Best of Luck Fiel*

WEVA CEA 2008

It was early morning yesterday when we got the greatest news from JMag himself (Alvin) and Michael Wong of Still Motion (Fiel). And even until now as first timers for this International Contest, we still could not believe that we won 2 Golds in the recent WEVA Creative Excellence Awards that was held at Orlando Florida. Feels like a baby taking his or her first step or a kid learning how to bike or parents having their first born child. Surreal! As much as we want to take all the credits, we know we could have never reached this far if it weren’t for our supportive family, friends, clients, fellow Ilonggos and Co-suppliers as well. And of course we want to bring back all the Glory and Honor to our Heavenly Father. To God be the Glory!

We Won 3rd!

We won third at the first ever Sony Wedding Video Competition which was held during the WPPP (Wedding and Portrait Photographers of the Philippines) Photocongress in Manila last October 22-25.
It is truly an honor since there were 36 entries from the best in the industry.
Here’s our entry:

Anyway, would you guys wanna know how we got in?
Here’s the story¦
It was October 17 when we went to Manila to shoot scenes for a corporate AVP of one of our clients in PSSC located in Diliman, Quezon City. We met up with Shierdan Pamintuan a fellow videographer based in Manila as he was the one tasked to cover the event.
During breaks, we tried to view our raw footage of Ruby and Magnus and gathered some ideas for our entry. After the event we headed to our hotel and started selecting scenes but we slept early since we have to leave for Laguna at about 5am the next day to continue shooting at several different locations.

We found ourselves at the middle of Laguna lake shooting a time lapse of the beautiful sunset as the last task of the day for our client.

We then continued editing our entry at the staff house of our client the whole night but we didn’t stay up too late since we have to leave again early morning the next day.
It was already October 19, one day before the deadline of entries when we hasted up the shooting to finish everything up early since we still have to look for a hotel. It was the same day when Glorietta 2 in Makati exploded. We finished shooting at about 3pm and traveled from our present location to Makati to check in at the Charter House located near Glorietta! Haha! We just love danger! When we arrived, people were still in a state of shock and the police were all over the place. When we got to the hotel, we got the suite room since there were three of us (Alvin, Fiel and Rex which was the representative of our client).

The video was done at about 2am in the morning of the 20th of October. After transferring the video file to miniDV at the studio of one of our videographer friends we then proceeded to Cubao to submit our entry at the office of WPPP at we got there at about 12 noontime. After that, we were able to breathe in freely as we were the 34th to submit. After that, we went to Greenhills to buy some cheap stuff for ourselves and went to Glorietta to buy some goodies as pasalubong for our loved ones in Iloilo and find out that Glorietta 2 was closed and there were only a few people roaming the halls of the mall.
5.jpg
It was then a job well done for us since we finished shooting for our client ahead of schedule and we finished editing our entry for Sony on the day of the deadline.

We would like to Congratulate Bob Nicolas for winning 2nd Place and Buddy Gancenia for winning First!
